God's Hands

Little reminders of God's hand in our adoption...

~~Hubby and I are in FL for the Notre Dame vs. Alabama championship game. A lot of this is a college reunion (Reed is a ND grad) and as I'm meeting many of the wives, the conversations always lead to how Reed and I already have 3 children.  I'm confused as to why other 30 year olds are shocked by the amount of children we have but that is for a different post. But because I like shocking people (and because I LOVE talking about adoption), I go on to say how our oldest is adopted from Ukraine.  Announcing this has backfired twice as both of those times, the wives (mind you, these are wives of two of Reed's close college buddies) go on to tell me how their grandparents were born in Ukraine and they both still have relatives there!  These ladies are unrelated and I had to introduce them... both were thrilled to meet each other!  Even more strange is having two Ukrainian women (yes, their families identify themselves as "Ukrainian-Americans") ask me what Ukraine is like.  :)

~~On Saturday, while connecting to our hotel's Wifi, I noticed one of the networks is called 'Beatrice'.  I haven't seen that network again.

~~While eating lunch today, I glanced down at my planner and noticed the lonely starfish in the sand... I originally bought the planner because the photo on the cover was a beach and it reminded me of my favorite place to be.  Noticing the lonely starfish just laying there gives the photo an entirely different meaning!  How did I never notice the lonely starfish before?

I need these reminders and I treasure them!

  1. Aww, this is terrific! I thought I would drop a note to let you know that ever since my 7 year old saw Beatrice she has talked constantly about her. And a quick side note...my 3 year old's name is derived from Beatrice and means "Bringer of Joy" which I am certain your little one will be :D

  2. I couldn't find Beatrice! She touched my heart. I was so excited when I saw she was being adopted. I will be following your adventure.
